Story
of the above.
Gallipoli is of course as hallowed a place to
the people of Turkey as it is to Australians.
One such person is Evren Isikozlu of Istanbul. He kindly sent me a metal
nametag he had found of one Fisher H. Allowing for the fact that sometimes
people drop their first name and are known by only their second name and
allowing also for mispellings there are only three names of Anzacs interred
at Gallipoli who possibly carried this dogtag.
I
have had it mounted onto a walking stick and will gladly make a present
of the stick to
any person who can authenticate a claim to being a member of the family
of FISHER H.
